Why in News?   

The Union Ministry of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs launched the ₹1,000 crore ADEETIE Scheme to help MSMEs adopt energy-efficient technologies and boost sustainable, low-carbon industrial growth.  

What is the ADEETIE Scheme?  

  • ADEETIE stands for Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries & Establishments.  
  • It aims to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) use cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies.  
  • Implemented by: Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)  
  • Total Outlay: ₹1,000 crore (for FY 2025–26 to 2027–28)  
  • Allocation:  
    • ₹875 crore for interest subvention  
    • ₹50 crore for energy audits  
    • ₹75 crore for technical support  

Main Objectives  

  • Promote energy efficiency in MSMEs to lower emissions  
  • Provide financial and technical support for adopting clean technologies  
  • Enhance power-to-productivity ratio  
  • Align with India’s Net Zero and Viksit Bharat targets  

Expected Impact  

  • Up to 50% cut in energy use with selected technologies  
  • Generate ₹9,000 crore in investments, including ₹6,750 crore in MSME lending  

Eligibility  

  • MSMEs in selected clusters/sectors  
  • Participation in audits and Detailed Project Report (DPR) approval process  
  • Priority to early adopters and energy-intensive units
