Why in News? 

The Government of India has recently launched the AI Kiran initiative aimed at empowering women in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

About AI Kiran 

• Objective: To build a dynamic AI ecosystem where women can excel as innovators, changemakers, and leaders. 
• Led by: The initiative is steered by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India. 
• Focus Areas: AI Kiran emphasizes the contributions of over 250 women who are leading advancements in AI across key sectors such as education and healthcare. 

About KIRAN Scheme 

• Full Form: Knowledge Involvement in Research Advancement through Nurturing (KIRAN) Scheme. 
• Launched by: The scheme was introduced by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. 
• Aim: To promote gender equality in science and technology by supporting and encouraging women's participation in research and innovation.
