Why in News?
The Jammu and Kashmir government has declared the Amarnath Yatra routes as ‘No Flying Zones’ from July 1 to August 10, 2025, in view of heightened security requirements for the upcoming pilgrimage.

About Amarnath Temple
- Amarnath Temple is a sacred Hindu cave shrine located in Pahalgam tehsil, Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir.
- It is situated at an altitude of 3,888 meters (12,756 feet) in the Sind Valley, surrounded by glaciers and snow-covered mountains.
- The shrine is about 168 km from Anantnag and 141 km from Srinagar and can be reached via Sonamarg or Pahalgam routes.
- The cave remains covered in snow for most of the year and is accessible only during a brief summer period for the annual Amarnath Yatra.
