Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. Launched Sub-Metre Resolution Surveillance Satellite

  • Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) has launched India’s first private sector-built sub-metre resolution earth observation satellite,
  • The satellite named TSAT-1A is a collaboration of TASL and Satellogic.
  • It was launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, by SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Manoj Panda Appointed as New Finance Commission Member

  • The Centre has appointed Manoj Panda as a member of the finance commission.
  • He is a former director of the Institute of Economic Growth.

Akshay Bhatia wins the Valero Texas Open

  • Indian-American golfer Akshay Bhatia won the Valero Texas Open.
  • It was his second PGA TOUR victory while first was Barracuda Championship 2023.
  • He also became the first lefthander to win the Valero Texas Open since Eric Axley in 2006.

Indian Army Gets Portable Igla-s Air Defence System from Russia

  • The Indian Army has received its first batch of 24 Russia-made Igla-S Man Portable Air Defence Systems (MANPADS), accompanied by 100 missiles.
  • The system is being procured to shore up Indian Army’s Very Short-Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) capabilities.
  • It is a hand-held defence system that can be operated by an individual.

  • Air India appointed Jayaraj Shanmugam as Head of Global Airport Operations.
  • Previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer of the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL).
