  • Sachidananda Mohanty has been appointed as a Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • He is a former Professor and Head of the Department of English, University of Hyderabad.
  • He has also served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha.

World Chagas Day 2024

  • World Chagas day is annually observed on 14th April.
  • The day raises awareness about neglected tropical diseases, advocates for equitable access to health care and services for those affected and promotes preventive measures to eliminate the disease.
  • It is also known as the silent or silenced disease and a communicable parasitic disease.
  • The theme for the day 2024 is Tackling Chagas disease: detect early and care for life.

Gopi Thotakura Become First Indian Pilot to Embark on Space Tourism

  • Gopi Thotakura become the first Indian to venture into space as a tourist in Blue Origin’s NS-25 mission.
  • He has been selected as a member of the elite crew for the flight.
  • Blue Origin aims to establish a private International Space Station.

  • Swiggy launched the Swiggy Pawlice app for finding missing pets.
  • The app empowers pet parents to report a missing pet directly on the Swiggy app, harnessing the network of Swiggy’s delivery partners as compassionate allies in the search efforts.

Hindustan Zinc Signed MoU with VEXL Environ Projects to Set Up Pilot Project

  • Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhopal-based VEXL Environ Projects to set up a pilot project for converting waste products into usable resources.
  • The MoU aligns with Hindustan Zinc’s waste management strategy of reducing, recycling, reusing, and reclaiming.
