Cyclone Jasper Hits Australia
- Tropical Cyclone Jasper hit northeast Australia.
- This is the first tropical cyclone to hit Australia in the current season.
- Emerging from a low-pressure region in the South Pacific Ocean, Jasper initially advanced in a southwest direction within Fiji's jurisdiction.
- Despite a gradual formation, the system intensified, leading the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) to designate it as a Category 1 tropical cyclone according to the Australian scale.
US House Approves Impeachment Inquiry into President Biden
- The Republican-majority US House has endorsed an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
- Despite limited evidence of misconduct by the president, Republicans have initiated this politically charged investigation.
- In a vote of 221-212, the House, led by Republicans, expressed support for an impeachment process that could result in the ultimate penalty for a president.
- The Constitution characterizes the charges as "high crimes and misdemeanors," and a proven guilt could lead to the removal from office.
SBI to Sign 70 million Euro LoC with KfW for Solar Projects
- The State Bank of India (SBI) is set to enter into a Line of Credit (LoC) agreement worth 70 million euros (approximately Rs 630 crore) with the German Development Bank KfW.
- The LoC is aimed at supporting Solar Photovoltaics (PV) projects in India.
- The signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 14 at the bank's IFSC Gift City Branch in Ahmedabad.
Mohammed Shami Nominated for Arjuna Award
- Mohammed Shami has received a nomination for the prestigious Arjuna Award.
- He gave an outstanding performance in the World Cup, where he broke several records.
- Arjuna Award is India's second-highest sports honour.
Satwiksairaj-Chirag for Khel Ratna
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the leading men's doubles duo in India, have been put forward for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award.
- They won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games.
- They were the first Indian doubles team to attain the top position in the BWF rankings.
- At present they hold the second position in the rankings.
Parama Sen Appointed Part-Time Member of PFRDA Board
- Parama Sen has been designated as a part-time member of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) by the Centre.
- At present he also serves as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Expenditure within the Finance Ministry.
- He is a 1994 batch Indian Audit and Accounts Services (IAAS) officer.
- PFRDA has a chairman besides three whole-time members and three part-time members.
