Partition Horrors Remembrance Day
- On August 14, 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' or 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas' is commemorated to honour the memory of those who lost their lives as a result of the partition.
NAFIS Of NCRB Secures Gold Award
- Union Home Minister, Amit Shah extended his congratulations to the National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) team for achieving the Gold Award in the first category of Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation.
- This accolade acknowledges NAFIS' exceptional efforts in establishing a robust fingerprint identification system, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of enhancing India's security.
Launch of One District One Product (ODOP) Program
- The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative has collaborated with the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) to introduce the intriguing and inventive concept of the 'ODOP Wall'.

- MakeMyTrip, a prominent travel company, has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to unveil more than 600 distinctive and offbeat travel destinations.
- To support this endeavour, the company has launched a dedicated microsite titled 'Traveller’s Map of India'.
- This digital platform empowers travellers to actively explore and discover lesser-known gems of tourism across India, personalized according to their inclinations.
- The meticulous development of this microsite harmonizes perfectly with the Government of India's progressive 'DekhoApnaDesh' initiative.
Launch of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)
- Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, inaugurated the implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within the framework of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
- This step aims to enhance apprenticeship training while fostering the engagement of industries and youth.
- At the inauguration ceremony, an estimated amount of Rs. 15 crore was distributed among one lakh apprentices, marking the formal initiation of the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism within the NAPS program.
Indian Ministry of Defence is Ditching Windows for Maya OS
- The Defence Ministry has announced a major overhaul of its cybersecurity system: it will replace Windows in all its internet-connected computers with a new OS called Maya.
- This is a response to the growing threat of malware and ransomware attacks, which have become more frequent and severe in recent times.
Maya OS
- Derived from Ubuntu, a widely recognized Linux distribution employing open-source software, Maya OS emerges as a fresh operating system.
- This creation by the Defence Ministry has seen collaborative efforts involving multiple government entities, including the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), and the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
