Virendra Bansal Appointed as SBI Capital Markets MD & CEO

  • SBI Capital Markets (SBICAPS) appointed Virendra Bansal as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Previously he was a country head for the US Operations of SBI, which included its offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo and Washington DC.

Union Minister Inaugurated Kalughat Inland Waterways Transport terminal in Bihar

  • The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated Kalughat Inland Waterways Transport terminal in Bihar.
  • Kalughat is located on the north bank of the River Ganga in Bihar's Saran District.
  • IWT Terminal constructed for Rs. 82.48 Crore will enhance capacity of 77,000 TEUs annually.
  • The projects will usher in all-round economic prosperity to the riverine community of Bihar through enhanced and smoother transportation of goods and passengers.

Nikhil Joshi Appointed as Managing Director of Boeing Defense India

  • Boeing, the US-based aerospace company appointmented Nikhil Joshi as managing director of Boeing Defense India (BDI).
  • He will lead current and future programs for BDI to enhance the mission readiness and modernization of India's defense forces.
  • Previously he served as the country manager for Eaton Aerospace, where he was responsible for growing the business footprint for Eaton in India.

RBI and Nepal Rastra Bank Signed an Agreement for UPI-NPI Linkage

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Nepal Rastra Bank signed pact for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) of India and the National Payments Interface (NPI) of Nepal.
  • The agreement aimed at facilitating seamless cross-border remittances.
  • Upon implementation, users of UPI and NPI will have the capability to conduct instant transactions between India and Nepal at reduced costs.

South Indian Bank Awarded Best Technology Bank of the Year Award

  • South Indian Bank was awarded the Best Technology Bank of the Year Award at the 19th IBA Annual Banking Technology Conference.
  • The awards were presented to PR Seshadri, MD & CEO of South Indian Bank by T Rabi Sankar, Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, in Mumbai.
  • The IBA Annual Banking Technology Conference, Expo & Citations is an annual event and instituted by the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).

DoT Launched Sangam: Digital Twin Initiative

  • Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has unveiled the 'Sangam: Digital Twin' initiative.
  • The DoT invited industry pioneers, startups, MSMEs, academia, innovators, and forward-thinkers to pre-register and actively participate in Sangam’s outreach program.
  • The initiative brings all stakeholders on one platform aiming to transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions, along with bridging the gap between conceptualization and realization and ultimately paving the way for infrastructure advancements.
