Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal Unveils Krutrim AI

  • Bhavish Aggarwal launched the artificial intelligence (AI) initiative led by Bhavish Aggarwal, which is named Krutrim Si Designs.
  • Bhavish Aggarwal is the co-founder of Ola.
  • Krutrim has entered the fiercely competitive field of AI, which is currently dominated by major players like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
  • It has been built with the largest representation of Indian data used for its generative AI applications for all Indian languages. 

Saint Lucia’s TIWB programme launched in partnership with India

  • On December 14, 2023, Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB), inaugurated a program in Saint Lucia.
  • TIWB is a collaborative effort between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD),
  • India has been designated as the Partner Administration, contributing Tax Experts to support this initiative.
  • This programme is expected to be of 12-18 months duration.
  • This Programme aims to aid Saint Lucia in strengthening its tax administration by transferring technical knowledge and skills to its tax administration, and through sharing of best practices.

BEL Received ₹4,522-Crore Order from the Indian Army

  • Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a distinguished Defence Public Sector Undertaking and a Navratna company, has secured a substantial order valued at Rs. 4,522 crores from the Indian Army.
  • This order is in reference to BEL's ongoing dedication to supporting the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative.
  • The project will entail collaboration with Indian Electronics and affiliated industries, with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) playing a role as sub-vendors for BEL.

UK Government Considers Social Media Ban for Under-16s

  • Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of UK (United Kingdom) government has taken measures aimed at safeguarding individuals under the age of 16 from online threats, despite the recent enactment of the Online Safety Act.
  • The Online Safety Act is a groundbreaking law requiring social media platforms to protect minors from harmful content or face significant penalties.

Kotak School of Sustainability

  • The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K), and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd jointly unveiled the establishment of the Kotak School of Sustainability.
  • It is recognized as India's first fully integrated school dedicated to sustainability.
  • It will feature specialized Centres of Excellence (COEs) addressing various faces of sustainability, including clean energy, environment, ecology, circular economy, climate finance, sustainable societies, and policy.
