  • In the FIFA Men's World Rankings, India has made significant strides in international football by attaining the 99th rank.
  • This progress reflects the efforts of the Indian team, referred to as the Blue Tigers.
  • They have achieved remarkable victories in both the Intercontinental Cup and the SAFF Championship, underscoring their growing prowess in the sport.
  • As a result of their impressive performance, the team has experienced a one-spot ascent in the global rankings, signifying their dedication and determination to excel on the international stage.

Youngest Person in World to Cross North Channel

  • Anshuman Jhingran, an 18-year-old open water swimmer hailing from Navi Mumbai, India, has attained a remarkable feat by becoming the youngest individual in history to successfully cross the North Channel.
  • His extraordinary achievement, accomplished within a mere 125 days, has secured him a prestigious position in the esteemed Guinness World Records.

Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Mission

  • On the 19th of July, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) accomplished a successful test of the Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Mission at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) situated in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.
  • The mission entails sending a crew of three members to a 400 km orbit for a three-day duration and ensuring their safe return to Earth, with a planned landing in the waters of the Indian Sea.

Japan Signs Semiconductor Pact with India

  • India and Japan have further strengthened their alliance by officially signing an agreement to collaborate on the joint development of the semiconductor ecosystem.
  • The primary objective of this deal is to enhance the resilience of the global supply chain, with particular focus on the critical semiconductor industry.
  • Japan's participation in this endeavor marks it as the second Quad partner, following the United States, to join forces with India in this significant initiative.

First ever “Credit Guarantee Scheme” for Livestock Sector

  • The Indian government has launched a pioneering "Credit Guarantee Scheme" dedicated to the Livestock Sector, with a key focus on revitalizing the rural economy and empowering Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  • To facilitate this initiative, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) has established a Credit Guarantee Fund Trust worth Rs 750 crore.
  • This fund aims to extend credit guarantee coverage to eligible lending institutions, thereby facilitating enhanced access to finance for the traditionally underserved livestock sector.

Gujrat Government Signs MoU with OneWeb

  • The Gujarat government has signed an MoU in Gandhinagar to establish a “Satellite Network Portal Site” with the London-based company OneWeb.
  • This project under Digital India, aims to provide affordable internet access to villages, district panchayats, local administrative bodies, government departments, and other entities throughout India.
