Sergio Pérez wins Saudi Arabia Grand Prix
- Sergio Perez won his first Formula One race with a dominant performance at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in 2023. Max Verstappen, his Red Bull teammate, started the race in 15th place and finished in second place.
- With his fastest lap, Verstappen maintained his lead in the championship standings; however, Fernando Alonso finished third, making him the focus of the competition for the final podium spot.
IPL India’s first unicorn with a $1.1 billion valuation
- According to D&P Advisory's analysis of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the cricket tournament was India's first unicorn when it was launched in 2008, when it was valued at $1.1 billion.
- The advisory had previously made the announcement that IPL had recently become a decacorn, which has a value of $10.9 billion. Currently, D&P Advisory is getting ready to publish a new analysis titled "IPL: The original Indian unicorn.
Adobe launches generative ‘Sensei GenAI’
- New generative AI enhancements for Adobe's Experience Cloud were unveiled at the "Adobe Summit" with the intention of revolutionizing how businesses provide customer experiences.
- In a statement, the company said that Adobe Experience Cloud users can easily switch between the current features and Sensei GenAI services in their workflows.
QS Rankings: IIT-Delhi enters list of top 50 institutions for engineering
- In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi was ranked among the top 50 engineering institutions.
- In addition, 44 programs offered by Indian higher education institutions in various fields were included in this year's list of the top 100 worldwide.
- This is more than the 35 Indian programs listed in the top 100 in the report from last year.
Microsoft introduces ‘Bing Image Creator’
- The availability of Bing Image Creator in Microsoft Edge for desktop and mobile users worldwide in English has been announced by Microsoft via Bing chat for Bing preview users.
- Additionally, the company disclosed that it intends to integrate Image Creator into Edge via the brand-new Bing button in chat mode in the preview browser.
- Users of Image Creator can select an art style and generate images based on their descriptions, which can include additional context such as location or activity.
India aims at becoming ‘Global Hub for Green Ship’ building by 2030
- By launching the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) and setting the target of becoming a "Global Hub for Green Ship" building by 2030, India hopes to establish itself as a global leader in the shipbuilding industry.
- The GTTP will initially produce Green Hybrid Tugs, which will be powered by Green Hybrid Propulsion systems. Later on, the GTTP will transition to alternative fuels like hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia.
- The National Centre of Excellence in Green Port & Shipping (NCoEGPS) was inaugurated in Gurugram, Haryana, by Shri Sarbananda SonowaI, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) and Ayush.
- By 2025, the Green Tugs will begin operating in major ports. It is anticipated that fifty percent of all Tugs will be converted into "Green Tugs" by the year 2030, leading to a significant drop in emissions and contributing to the country's efforts to achieve its sustainable development goals.
L&T signs agreement with France-based McPhy for electrolyzer manufacturing
- A binding agreement has been signed between McPhy Energy, a leading electrolyzer technology and manufacturing company based in France, and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational that specializes in EPC projects, high-tech manufacturing, and services.
- The two businesses will work together for a long time under the terms of the agreement to investigate opportunities in the new market for green hydrogen. L&T and McPhy Energy will work together on electrolyzer manufacturing, a crucial technology for making green hydrogen.
Paralympic Committee of India signs MoU with Makers Hive and Vilay Sports
- Makers Hive and Vilay Sports have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
- The MOU was witnessed by para-athlete Shri Devendra Jhajharia, the PCI's current president, and other individuals. The signing of the MOU exemplifies the three organizations' significant collaboration.
Khalistan Movement: An Exploration of Its Origins
- The Khalistan movement is a separatist group that wants to create a sovereign state in the Punjab for Sikhs called Khlistn.
- Lahore would serve as the capital of this proposed state, which would encompass the territory of Punjab in Pakistan and Punjab in India.
- The Sikh diaspora's financial and political support helped the movement gain momentum in the 1970s and 1980s, after the British Empire fell.
- Several factors contributed to the insurgency's decline in the 1990s, including a severe police crackdown, internal conflicts, and a decline in Sikh support.
- The movement has received some support in India and the Sikh diaspora, but it has not achieved its goal, and protests are still held annually to remember those who died during Operation Blue Star.
- Beyond Punjab, the Khalistan movement has occasionally expressed territorial ambitions for parts of North India and the western Indian states.
Impact of SVB collapse upon Indian Talent Market
- Indian startups, which had approximately $1 billion in deposits with the lender, now face uncertainty in the talent market because of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB)'s recent collapse.
- Despite having $209 billion in assets at the end of 2022, regulators shut down SVB on March 10 due to a run on the bank.
World Tuberculosis Day observed on 24 March
- Every year on March 24, World Tuberculosis Day is observed to raise awareness about the global tuberculosis (TB) epidemic and efforts to eradicate it.
- By 2030, the World Health Organization (WHO) hopes to eradicate the TB pandemic. In addition to developing new tools and strategies for TB control, the organization collaborates with governments, non-governmental organizations, and other partners to expand access to TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
- On World Tuberculosis Day, organizations and individuals worldwide organize events and activities to promote efforts to eradicate TB and raise awareness of the disease's causes, symptoms, and treatment. The day gives people a chance to unite and do something to help end the TB epidemic.
Ashneer Grover launched cricket fantasy sports app ‘CrickPe’
- In advance of the Indian Premier League (IPL) competition, Ashneer Grover, co-founder of BharatPe, has launched CrickPe, a brand-new fantasy sports app centered on cricket.
- Dream11, Mobile Premier League (MPL), and Games24x7's My11Circle will be competitors for this app. More than two dozen angel investors, including Anmol Singh Jaggi, Anirudh Kedia, and Vishal Kedia, have contributed $4 million in seed funding to Ashneer Grover's Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd.
- Grover was previously associated with BharatPe and Grofers, two unicorns. Users will be able to participate in contests for IPL matches beginning on March 31, 2023, making the app's launch date the IPL tournament.

- The recent Hindenburg Research report that said Block Inc. ignored a lot of fraud has had a big effect on Jack Dorsey's net worth.
- With a decrease of 11%, his fortune experienced its largest single-day decline since May, totaling $526 million.
- Dorsey has a net worth of $4.4 billion at the time of writing, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Canara Bank sells stake in Russian joint venture to SBI for Rs 121 crore
- Canara Bank has announced that it has paid SBI approximately 121.29 crore for its stake in Commercial Indo Bank LLC (CIBL), a joint venture with State Bank of India (SBI).
- SBI owns 60% of CIBL, which was founded in 2003, and Canara Bank owns 40%. CIBL operates in Russia. As per Canara Bank, the deal arrangement was executed on November 11, 2022.
Income tax dept launches mobile app AIS for Taxpayers
- Taxpayers now have access to their tax-related data in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) or Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) via a mobile application called "AIS for Taxpayer," which was released on March 22 by the Income Tax Department.
- Since the beginning of the new fiscal year, on April 1, Form 26AS will only display information related to tax deducted at source (TDS) and tax collected at source (TCS). As a result, the app has become essential and beneficial.
