Joint Military Exercise AUSTRAHIND-23

  • A contingent of 81 personnel from the Indian Armed Forces set out for Australia to participate in the second edition of the Joint Military Exercise AUSTRAHIND-23.
  • The exercise is scheduled to take place in Perth, Australia, from November 22nd to December 6th, 2023.
  • AUSTRAHIND was established in 2022, and its inaugural edition took place in Mahajan, Rajasthan.
  • The primary objective of the exercise is to enhance collaborative partnerships and exchange best practices between the Indian and Australian armed forces.

SEBI Launched the Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) Platform

  • Madhabi Puri Buch, the Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has formally introduced the Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) platform at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
  • The IRRA platform is crafted to address and minimize the risks confronted by investors in the event of technical glitches occurring at Trading Member (TM) ends, covering both primary and disaster recovery sites.
  • This platform has been developed under the guidance of Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs).

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)

  • SEBI is a Statutory Body (a Non-Constitutional body which is set up by a Parliament) established on 12th April, 1992 in accordance with the provisions of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.
  • The basic functions of SEBI is to protect the interests of investors in securities and to promote and regulate the securities market.
  • The headquarters of SEBI is situated in Mumbai. The regional offices of SEBI are located in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi.

Ex-West Indies batsman, Marlon Samuels, Received a Six-Year Cricket Ban

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a six-year ban on former West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels.
  • The ban follows a verdict from an independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal, which determined that Samuels breached the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code.

Shri Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates the 8th India Water Impact Summit (IWIS)

  • Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways in India, inaugurated the 8th Edition of the India Water Impact Summit (IWIS) at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
  • The summit was organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and the Center for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga).
  • The theme of IWIS 2023, 'Development vis-à-vis Land, Water, and Rivers.'
  • It aims to bring together scientific experts, stakeholders, and government representatives to address the dynamic challenges and opportunities in India's water sector.
