World Piano Day 2024

  • World Piano Day is annually observed on 28th March.
  • The day celebrated the history of music and encouraged its development. It also recognise the contributions that composers have made to the field of music as well as the producers of the instrument, who have played a role in the instrument's development.

Thailand Lower House Passed a Bill to Legalize Same-sex Marriages

  • Thailand’s Lower House of Parliament passed the bill passed a bill giving legal recognition to same-sex marriage.
  • However, it still needs approval from the Senate and royal endorsement to become law.
  • It will become the only Southeast Asian country to recognize same-sex unions and a third place in Asia to allow for marriage equality after Taiwan and Nepal.

LCA Tejas MK-1A Completed Maiden Flight

  • The 1st Tejas Mk-1A aircraft was made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bengaluru.
  • The Tejas Mk-1A will have an advanced electronic radar, superior warfare capabilities, and improved maintenance features.

Sadanand Vasant Date Appointed as Director General Of NIA

  • Sadanand Vasant Date has been appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency NIA.
  • She is a 1990-batch Indian Police Service officer and is currently serving as Chief of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

IRDAI Identifies LIC, GIC Re, and New India Assurance as D-SIIs

  • Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) and the New India Assurance Company continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Insurers (D-SIIs) by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
  • D-SIIs are insurance companies which are perceived as ‘too big or too important to fail’ (TBTF) based on their size, market importance, and domestic and global interconnectedness.
