Controller General of Accounts celebrates 47th Civil Accounts Day
- On March 1, the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS), Civil Accounts Day was observed.
- After the Union government's accounting and audit functions were separated in 1976, the Indian Civil Accounts Service was established.
- As a result, this duty was delegated to India's Comptroller and Auditor General.
Bola Tinubu elected as the new President of Nigeria
- On March 1, 2023, electoral officials in Nigeria made the announcement that Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the ruling party in the presidential election, had been chosen to lead the nation.
- Bola Tinubu has won elections as a member of the "All Progressive Congress Party," which he has been associated with.
- He will become the fifth president of Nigeria since the country returned to democratic rule in 1999, winning the election on his first try.
Karakattam
- This dance form found mentioned in the recent Maan Ki Baat episode. The famous performer V Durga Devi was mentioned by the PM.
- The Karakattam dance form is a mixture of multiple dance forms in Tamil Nadu.
- The dance form derives its postures and mudras from Bharatanatyam.
- The dance is performed for folk Carnatic music.
- The music played for the dance is called Amirthavarshini.
Perini Natyam
- In therecent episode of Maan Ki Baat, this dance form was mentioned.
- The 101-day Perini Odissi in Telangana was organized by Raj Kumar Nayak, also known as "Perini Rajkumar," as the PM mentioned.
- The ancient dance form known as Perini Natyam was developed and flourished in the southern state of Telangana during the Kakatiya dynasty.
- It is a tribute to the Hindu god of destruction, Lord Siva. The dance form was traditionally performed by soldiers prior to going to war.Therefore, it is referred to as the "Dance of Warriors."
ALMA Desert
- An upgrade is planned for the ALMA telescope in the Atacama Desert.
- The telescope's Collector and supercomputer components will be upgraded.
- South America is home to the Atacama Desert, a 1,600-kilometer stretch of land along the Pacific coast.
- To the west of the Andes Mountains is this desert plateau. It is the driest nonpolar desert on earth. Salt lakes, stony terrain, sand, and felsic lava that flows toward the Andes make up the majority of it.
- The objective of this is to speed up the telescope's operation.
1,300 year-old Buddhist stupa found in Odisha
- The Archaeological Survey of India recently discovered a 1,300-year-old Buddhist stupa near Jagannath temple located in Puri.
- The stupa was discovered during a mining operation.
- Khondalite stone is mined here. It is a metamorphic rock and was used in the construction of the Puri Jagannath temple.
8th Raisina Dialogue
- The Raisina Dialogue will hold its eighth edition in March 2023.
- PM Modi will start the conversation. Together with the Observer Research Foundation, the dialogue is being held at the Ministry of External Affairs.
- The topic of discussion is geopolitics and geostrategy.
- The Italian Prime Minister GiorgiaMeloni will be the main guest at the Raisina Dialogue 2023.
