India beat Iran in the Final of the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023
- The Indian men’s kabaddi team beat Iran 42-32 in a high-voltage final to defend its Asian Championships title at the Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Seokdang Cultural Center in Busan, Republic of Korea.
- It was India’s eighth title in the continental championships.
Neeraj Chopra Wins Lausanne Diamond League 2023
- Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra won his second consecutive Diamond League win this season, beating a world-class field with an effort of 87.66m in Lausanne.
- He had previously clinched his first Diamond League Trophy by winning the Lausanne leg in August 2022.
National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal, Gujarat
- As part of the Sagarmala program, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has initiated the creation of a National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Lothal, Gujarat.
- This ambitious undertaking, with an estimated budget of ₹4,500 crore, aims to develop a state-of-the-art facility that showcases India's maritime heritage spanning ancient to modern eras.
- By incorporating advanced technology and adopting an "edutainment approach," the complex endeavours to become a globally recognized tourist attraction, promoting knowledge and appreciation of India's profound maritime legacy.
Air Exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’
- In October-November of this year, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is preparing to organize its inaugural multi-national air exercise, known as 'Tarang Shakti.' With the active participation of nations like the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Australia, the primary objective of this exercise is to enhance military cooperation and cultivate strategic alliances.
- Anticipated to be India's largest multi-national air exercise to date, 'Tarang Shakti' serves as a testament to the IAF's dedication to global engagement, showcasing their commitment to international collaboration and joint training initiatives.
National Chartered Accountants Day 2023
- National Chartered Accountants Day, celebrated on July 1, marks the founding of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
- On this notable occasion, the ICAI's contributions to the financial and accounting sector, as India's oldest and most esteemed organization in the field, are recognized.
- Having completed 75 years, the ICAI holds the exclusive authority for licensing and regulation of the accounting profession and financial auditing in the country.
- All accounting and finance bodies, including the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA), are mandated to follow the accounting standards guidelines laid down by the ICAI.
Youth Co:Lab Winners 2022
- During the 5th Edition of the Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue India, twelve exceptional startups from different states across India were declared winners.
- These startups, active in sectors like agriculture, ed-tech, women's livelihood, circular economy, and biodiversity, were granted seed funding of up to $5,000 each to expand their innovative solutions and scale their businesses.
Youth Co:Lab
- Youth Co:Lab, a collaborative initiative launched in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Citi Foundation, seeks to create a shared agenda among Asia-Pacific countries.
- Its objective is to empower and invest in youth, enabling them to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- In 2019, Youth Co:Lab was introduced in India through a partnership with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a flagship initiative of NITI Aayog.
