NPCI And Peru Central Bank Signed Pact for UPI-like Payments System

• National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has signed an agreement with the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) to deploy a digital payments system in Peru like the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
• The partnership makes Peru the first South American nation to adopt NPCI’s technology and is NIPL’s second collaboration with a central bank to implement the UPI framework internationally.

India Participated in Inauguration of Indo-Pacific Economic Framework

• Indian delegation participated in the inaugural Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Clean Economy Investor Forum underway in Singapore.
• The delegation was led by Department of Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal.
• IPEF is a platform which brought together the region’s top investors, clean economy companies, and start-ups to mobilise investments into sustainable infrastructure, climate technology, and renewable energy projects.

Sunita Williams Became First Woman to Pilot New Spacecraft on Maiden Crewed Test Flight

• Indian-Origin NASA astronaut Sunita Williams became the first woman to fly on the maiden mission of a new human-rated spacecraft.
• She along with US astronaut Butch Wilmore preparing for their departure to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Starliner.
• Sunita Williams is the pilot of the flight test while Wilmore is the mission commander.

Sarabjot Singh Won Gold in Men’s 10m Air Pistol Event at ISSF World Cup

• Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2024 in Munich, Germany.
• The ISSF World Cup was introduced by the International Shooting Sport Federation in 1986 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic shooting competitions.
