Conrad Sangma sworn-in as Meghalaya Chief Minister for 2nd term

  • In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Conrad Kongkal Sangma was sworn in as Meghalaya's chief minister for the second consecutive term.
  • The oath of office was administered to Sangma, his two deputies Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhaland Dhar, and nine other ministers by Governor Phagu Chauhan.
  • According to information provided by the Election Commission of India on March 2, Sangma prevailed over Bernard N. Marak of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the South Tura constituency by a margin of 5,016 votes.

Manik Saha sworn in as 13th CM of Tripura

  • After the BJP won the Assembly elections on February 16, Manik Saha took the oath as the 13th chief minister for the second time as Tripura's chief minister. Another eight ministers were sworn in.
  • In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Saha and eight additional MLAs as Ministers.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah also held a marathon meeting with TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma and 13 MLAs from his party.
  • The current administration has retained four of the new ministers. With 60 members, the Council of Ministers could have 12 members.

5th ASEAN-India Business Summit 2023

  • Kuala Lumpur hosted the fifth Asean-India Business Summit on March 6, 2023.
  • Participants and speakers from Asean and India met to talk about how stronger ASEAN-India cooperation can improve business connections, connectivity, and supply chain resilience.
  • The 5th ASEAN-India Business Summit is addressed by the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology.

The Qatar Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation

  • During LDC5, a Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation was held with the intention of finding multi-stakeholder participation from the global South and traditional development partners concrete, innovative, and actionable solutions to support the DPoA deliverables.
  • OHRLLS, the State of Qatar, the host nation, and Malawi, the Chair of LDCs, collaborate with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation to organize the Meeting.

23rd Commonwealth Law Conference begins in Goa

  • The 23rd District Regulation Meeting was introduced by Goa Lead representative P.S. Sreedharan Pillai.

Daily UPI transactions jump 50% to 36 crores: RBI

  • Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India, stated that UPI payments have increased exponentially over the past year, with daily transactions exceeding 36 crores, up 50% from 24 crore in February 2022.
  • The governor told reporters at the launch of the Digital Payments Awareness Week at the RBI headquarters that these transactions are worth Rs 6.27 lakh crore, an increase of 17% from Rs 5.36 lakh crore in February 2022.
  • In addition, he stated that over the course of the previous three months, the total number of monthly digital payment transactions exceeded the Rs 1,000 crore mark.

Union MoS Dr L. Murugan confers 8th National Photography Awards

  • The 8th National Photography Awards were presented in New Delhi by Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.
  • The ceremony saw the presentation of thirteen awards, six of which were in the Professional and Amateur categories, respectively. Life and Water was the theme for the Professional category, while "Cultural Heritage of India" was the theme for the Amateur category.

  • Sir David Alan Chipperfield, a civic architect, urban planner, and activist, has been chosen as the 2023 Laureate of The Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is widely regarded as the highest award in architecture.

Sheikh Mohammed appointed as Qatar’s new prime minister

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has been appointed Qatar's new prime minister by the country's amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
  • After the amir accepted the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, the decision to appoint deputy prime minister Sheikh Mohammed was made.
  • In January 2020, Sheikh Khalid was named prime minister and interior minister of Qatar.

US hands over NISAR satellite to ISRO

  • The NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) satellite was given to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) by the United States space agency.
  • Bengaluru has seen the arrival of a NASA-ISRO synthetic aperture radar (NISAR)-carrying C-17 aircraft from the United States Air Force.
