The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a formal order to intensify checks on Boeing 787 planes amid continued focus on passenger safety and airworthiness. 

About DGCA 

• The DGCA oversees and regulates air transport services to, from and within India. 
• It enforces civil aviation regulations and ensures compliance with air safety and airworthiness standards. 
• It operates under the Ministry of Civil Aviation as its attached office. 
• It is a statutory body. 
• DGCA works in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a UN body that promotes international cooperation in air travel among 193 member countries.
