Why in News? 

The government has launched the EVolutionS Programme, providing grants to electric vehicle (EV) startups to encourage innovation and the development of EV solutions. 

About EVolutionS Programme 

• Launched by: 
  • Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology. 
  • Implemented in collaboration with Ministry of Heavy Industry (MHI) and the Automotive Component Manufacturing Association of India (ACMA). 
• Objective: To support startups in pilot demonstrations, testing, validation of components, and to create industry connects for the market translation of EV solutions. 
• Coverage: Focuses on electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, including L5 vehicles, e-rickshaws, e-carts, e-buses, and EV public charging infrastructure. 
• Grant Amount: Startups with indigenous capabilities in developing materials/components can receive up to ₹50 lakh in grants, including ₹30 lakh in the form of equity-linked instruments.
