Why in News? 

The Indian Army contingent has reached Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, for the 22nd Multinational Military Exercise Khaan Quest, which is scheduled to be conducted from 14th to 28th June 2025. 

About Exercise Khaan Quest 

• Genesis: The exercise was initiated as a bilateral initiative between the United States and Mongolia in 2003. 
• First Multilateral Exercise: The first multilateral iteration of Khaan Quest took place in 2006. 
• Objective: The primary objective of Khaan Quest is to prepare the Indian Armed Forces for peacekeeping missions under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. 
  • Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter deals with actions regarding threats to peace, breaches of peace, and acts of aggression, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in maintaining global peace and security.
