Why in News? 

The 17th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025 has commenced in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. 

About Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2025 

• This bilateral annual exercise alternates between both countries and aims to strengthen military cooperation, tactical interoperability, and operational coordination. 
• The previous edition was held in Umroi, Meghalaya in July 2024. The current Indian contingent includes 45 personnel, mainly from the Arunachal Scouts, known for their high-altitude warfare expertise. 
• The exercise promotes professional exchanges, combat training, and joint operational readiness in terrains relevant to both armies.
