The 51st G7 summit was held from 16 to 17 June 2025 in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada.
About G7
- The G7 started in 1975 as the G6 (U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Japan) to tackle economic issues post the 1973–74 oil crisis.
- Canada joined in 1976, forming the G7; Russia joined in 1997, forming G8, but was removed in 2014 after its annexation of Crimea.
- The European Union has been part of meetings since 1981, but does not hold presidency.
