Why in News? 

ISRO conducted its first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-1) to validate the parachute-based deceleration system for the Crew Module (CM) of the Gaganyaan mission. 

• The objective of the Gaganyaan mission is to send Indian astronauts to low-earth orbit (400 km) by 2027. 
• Will place India among the few nations with human spaceflight capability (US, Russia, China). 
• Members shortlisted for the Mission: Group captains Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Ajit Krishnan, and Angad Pratap, and wing commander Shubanshu Shukla. 
• The mission will utilize human-rated LVM3 launch vehicle, Crew Escape System, and Crew and Service Modules.
