About International Tea Day
- Theme for 2025: “Tea for Better Lives”
- On International Tea Day 2025, a convention with panel discussions on India’s tea industry and a special Tea Appreciation zone was held at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi.
- Historical Background: The United Nations General Assembly declared May 21 as International Tea Day in December 2019.
- On May 21, 2025, India’s Permanent Mission to the U.N. hosted a high-level event themed ‘Tea for Livelihoods, Tea for SDGs’ to celebrate International Tea Day. The event ended with a tea tasting featuring popular Indian teas like Darjeeling, Masala chai, Assam, and Nilgiri.
