Why in News? 

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully conducted 10th National Level Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX-X) off Chennai coast. 

• Biennial exercise, part of India’s marine environmental protection framework. 
• Strengthens preparedness, coordination, and response to marine oil spills under National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOSDCP), drafted by ICG; approved in 1993. 
• Highlight of 10th edition– first-ever shoreline clean-up drill at Marina Beach, involving multiple state agencies.
