National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) 

  • The Government is set to introduce NeVA for the Puducherry Legislative Assembly. 
  • Nagaland became the first Legislative Assembly to adopt NeVA. 
  • NeVA is an initiative by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) aimed at digitizing and streamlining legislative processes across all 37 State and Union Territory Legislatures. 
  • Deployed on NIC Cloud, MeghRaj, NeVA allows the Chair of the House to conduct proceedings smoothly in a paperless manner, aligning with the 'One Nation – One Application' vision. 
  • It operates under a centrally sponsored funding model, providing equitable support to both states and Union Territories.

Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag  

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (BBA). 
  • Aim is to promote Indian languages in administration and reduce the influence of foreign languages in government functioning.

MSC IRINA 

  • On June 9, 2025, MSC IRINA, the world’s largest container ship, docked at Vizhinjam Port, marking its first South Asian visit. 
  • The vessel has a capacity of 24,346 TEUs and is nearly 400 metres long, showcasing Vizhinjam’s ability to handle mega ships.

Poverty in India 

  • India’s extreme poverty rate dropped from 27.1% (2011–12) to 5.3% (2022–23), driven by free and subsidised food transfers, says the World Bank. 
  • The rural-urban poverty gap narrowed, with 54% of extreme poor in five populous states. 
  • India’s GDP is still 5% below pre-COVID trends, with recovery expected by 2027–28 amid global risks.
