Almatti Dam 

  • Karnataka will approach PM Modi over Maharashtra’s objection to raising the Almatti Dam height from 519.6m to 524m. 
  • The Almatti Dam is also known as Lal Bahadur Shastri Dam is a hydroelectric project on the Krishna River in North Karnataka.

Artificail Metal Based Nanozyme 

  • Indian Institute of Science (IISc) scientists have developed a metal-based nanozyme using vanadium pentoxide to prevent dangerous blood clots linked to conditions like pulmonary thromboembolism. 
  • The nanozyme mimics natural antioxidant enzymes, reducing reactive oxygen species without affecting normal blood clotting. 
  • In tests on human platelets and mice, it significantly reduced thrombosis and improved survival rates with no toxic effects. 
  • Unlike current anti-clotting drugs, the nanozyme does not cause bleeding, making it a safer alternative; further trials may explore its use in preventing ischaemic stroke.

Bharat Gen

  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh launched Bharat Gen, India’s first AI-based, multilingual Large Language Model (LLM) at the BharatGen Summit 2025. 
  • Developed under NM-ICPS via IIT Bombay, it supports 22 Indian languages and aims to provide ethical, inclusive AI solutions. 
  • BharatGen will aid healthcare, education, and governance—like AI doctors in regional languages improving rural telemedicine. 
  • It supports PM’s Techade vision and NEP 2020 by promoting interdisciplinary learning and innovation across India. 

Shangri-La Dialogue

  • The Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual multilateral defence summit, is currently being held in Singapore, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) with support from the Singapore government. 
  • It was established in 2002, inspired by post–Cold War multilateralism and evolving defence diplomacy. 
  • The dialogue is named after the Shangri-La hotel, where the first summit took place.

Yogandhra 2025 Initiative

  • Over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts gathered near Puligundu Twin Hills, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, to launch the month-long countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025. 
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the vibrant participation and called Yogandhra 2025 a commendable initiative to promote yoga. 
  • The PM announced he looks forward to celebrating Yoga Day in Andhra Pradesh on June 21, encouraging everyone to embrace yoga as part of daily life.
