India has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian citizens from Iran amid rising tensions and the threat of a military strike due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
About Operation Sindhu
- Launched by the Government of India to evacuate Indians from Iran.
- Triggered by the worsening conflict between Iran and Israel.
- Over 10,000 Indians are currently in Iran, including 6,000 students.
- In the first phase, 110 Indian students from northern Iran were safely transported to Yerevan, Armenia, by road.
- The evacuation was coordinated by the Indian Missions in Iran and Armenia.
- A 24×7 Control Room has been set up in New Delhi to monitor and support operations.
- The Indian Embassy in Tehran has also activated a 24×7 emergency helpline for citizens.
- More evacuation phases are planned based on how the situation develops.
