Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Ghana’s highest civilian honour, The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana.
About the Order of the Star of Ghana
- This is the second-highest national award of Ghana, given to individuals for outstanding service to the country.
- Earlier, it was Ghana’s highest civilian honour until 23 June 2008, when it was overtaken by the Grand Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana.
- The award is presented at formal state functions led by the President of Ghana.
- PM Modi was honoured in the Officer grade (civil division) for his role in strengthening India-Ghana relations.
- PM Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Ghana in over 30 years.
- The award from Ghana marks PM Modi’s 24th international recognition.
