Mohamed Muizzu 

Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is on an official visit to the United Kingdom, where he is engaging in high-level discussions with British leaders to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations. 

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assumed office as the President of the Maldives on 17 November 2023. He is a prominent leader and the President of the People’s National Congress (PNC). 

In April 2024, his party, the PNC, achieved a super-majority in the parliamentary elections, significantly boosting its political influence in the country. 

Mark Carney 

Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has signaled a reset in Canada–India relations by inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G7 Summit. This marks a renewed effort to strengthen bilateral ties, with trade diversification emerging as a key priority for Canada in 2025. 

Mark Carney became the 24th Prime Minister of Canada after being elected as the Leader of the Liberal Party and was sworn in during March 2025. 

His government is focused on uniting Canadians, defending national sovereignty and building a strong economy, with the goal of making Canada the strongest economy in the G7. 

Dr. Abhijeet Sheth 

The Central Government has appointed Dr. Abhijit Sheth as the new Chairperson of the National Medical Commission (NMC). 

Dr. Sheth is a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and served as the President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). 

Kavinder Gupta 

Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. 

Kavinder Gupta, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, and three-time Mayor of Jammu. 

Ashok Gajapathi Raju 

The Central Government has appointed Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), as the Governor of Goa. 

Ashok Gajapathi Raju has served multiple terms as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and later as a Member of Parliament, showcasing his extensive political experience. 

He was the Union Civil Aviation Minister from 2014 to 2018, during which he introduced important initiatives like the UDAN scheme to improve regional air connectivity across India. 

Ashim Kumar ghosh 

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh as the new Governor of Haryana. 

Ashim Kumar Ghosh served as a professor of political science at North Kolkata colleges for nearly four decades (1966–2004). 

Ashim Kumar Ghosh earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Vidyasagar College, Kolkata, followed by a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Calcutta.
