Why in News?
- Centre announced 100 Aspirational Agriculture Districts under PMDDKY.
- Announced in Union Budget 2025, PMDDKY is modelled on Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP), focused on agriculture & allied sectors.
- No separate budget; converges 36 schemes from 11 departments (PM-KISAN, PMFBY, PMKSY) with ₹24,000 cr annually (2025–31).
- 40% subsidies, 30% infrastructure, 20% loans, 10% training/market support.
- Boost productivity & farmer income, promote crop diversification & sustainability, expand post-harvest storage & value addition, etc.
- District Selection:
- Districts with Low crop productivity (wheat <3.5 tonnes/ha, rice <2.7 t/ha)
- Moderate cropping intensity (<1.55 cycles/year)
- Low credit access— districts with limited penetration of bank loans/KCCs, often below 30% of farmers.
- Geographic representation – Selection based on Net Cropped Area and operational holdings per state/UT; minimum one district per state.
- Implementation– under MoA&FW; each selected district will set up District DDKY Samiti (chaired by Collector) prepares District Agriculture Development Plan (DADP); monitored by 100 Central Nodal Officers.
- Expected outcome– direct benefit to 1.7 cr farmers; integrates livestock, dairy,
