Tulare Lake in California, which had vanished earlier, reappeared after 130 years due to the impact of atmospheric rivers in 2023.  

About Tulare Lake  

• Location: Situated in the San Joaquin Valley, California, USA.  
• Historically, it was the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River.  
• The lake is replenished by the Kern River, which receives water from snowmelt in the southern Sierra Nevada mountains.  
• Tulare Lake dried up primarily because of extensive man-made irrigation activities.  
• The Tachi Yokut tribe depended on this lake for water, especially since the region experiences very low rainfall.
