About Lumpy Skin Disease 

• It is a viral infection mainly affecting cattle and, to a lesser extent, buffaloes. 
• Causative agent: The disease is caused by the lumpy skin disease virus, which belongs to the genus Capripoxvirus in the Poxviridae family. 
• Symptoms: It results in fever and the appearance of nodules on the skin, which can sometimes be fatal. 
• Mode of transmission: The virus spreads through blood-feeding insects such as certain species of flies, mosquitoes, and ticks.
