Adani’s Sri Lanka Port Terminal Project to Get Funding from U.S. Government 

  • The Development Finance Corporation (DFC) of the United States has announced a significant investment of $553 million in Adani Ports' container terminal project at the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka.  
  • This substantial financial backing is intended to enhance private-sector investments fostering economic development and strategic alliances in the area. 

International Week of Science and Peace 2023  

  • The International Week of Science and Peace, observed annually from November 9 to 15, was initiated in 1986 during the International Year of Peace.  
  • The United Nations General Assembly officially declared this week in 1988 to emphasize the significance of science in advancing peace and development efforts. 

Santosh Kumar Jha as the Next CMD of Konkan Railway 

  • Santosh Kumar Jha has been appointed as the upcoming Chairman & Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a prominent public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways.  
  • He will assume the leadership role in the esteemed organization, succeeding the current incumbent, Sanjay Gupta. 

Inauguration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue in Kupwara  

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unveiled a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.  
  • This statue, representing cultural heritage, was placed at the 41 National Rifle (Maratha LI) camp, situated near the Line of Control (LoC) that divides India and Pakistan. 

Uttarakhand marks its 23rd Foundation Day 

  • Uttarakhand is celebrating its 23rd Foundation Day on November 9, with President Draupadi Murmu participating in the event.  
  • This marks the first time in 23 years that a President has been part of Uttarakhand's Foundation Day program.
