Ajit Pawar Takes Oath as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra

  • Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra in the presence of chief minister Eknath Shinde and existing deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at Raj Bhavan. 
  • The deputy Chief minister of the state is appointed by the Chief Minister of that state.
  • The position of Deputy Chief Minister carries a status equivalent to that of a cabinet minister, accompanied by comparable privileges. Nevertheless, they do not possess distinct financial or administrative authorities and are required to obtain the Chief Minister's consent for matters pertaining to their designated portfolio.

Sheikh Talal Elected as the New President of OCA

  • Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah of Kuwait has been chosen as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
  • His appointment comes as a replacement for his elder brother, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who held the position for a remarkable three decades.

World Cup 2023 

  • The ICC has unveiled the official schedule for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Set to be hosted by India, the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup is slated to take place from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
  • The tournament will begin with the opening match on October 5 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
  • The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, has also confirmed that the final of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
  • The first semi-final is scheduled to take place at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, while the second semi-final will be hosted at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.

Third World Hindu Conference

  • The three days event known as Vishwa Hindu Sammelan will be held at the Convention Center in Bangkok.
