Rajasthan is Top Most Achiever in Wind Energy Adoption

  • On June 15, 2023, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy actively participated in the global festivities of Global Wind Day. They organized a comprehensive event throughout the day in New Delhi.
  • The theme of the event was "Pawan – Urja: Powering the Future of India," emphasizing the significance of wind power as a vital energy source for the country's future growth.
  • Rajasthan was felicitated for achieving the highest wind capacity addition, Gujarat for achieving the highest wind capacity addition through open access and Tamil Nadu for initiating repowering of wind turbines.

Aditya L-1 Mission

  • Aditya L1 is set to become India's inaugural space mission dedicated to study the Sun.
  • Positioned at the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, approximately 1.5 million km away from our planet, the spacecraft will orbit in a halo trajectory.
  • One significant benefit of this orbit is the uninterrupted view of the Sun, devoid of any occultations or eclipses.
  • This continuous observation will offer a remarkable advantage in monitoring solar activities and their impact on space weather in real-time.

India to Participate at AIAF for the First Time

  • India is participating at the Annecy International Animation Festival (AIAF) for the first time this year in France. 
  • At the AIAF, an Indian delegation led by Apurva Chandra, the Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, accompanied by distinguished figures from the animation industry, has been highlighting India's impressive capabilities in producing animation and VFX content for international viewership.
  • Recently, India has gained recognition as a preferred hub for global production houses seeking VFX and animation content.

 'Arunpol App' Launched by CM of Arunachal Pradesh

  • Arunachal Pradesh Police has taken the digital route with the launch of 'ArunPol mobile app' and 'e-Vigilance portal'.
  • The app and the portal were launched at a ceremony in Itanagar by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
  • Its main objective is to reduce the unproductive man-hours spent by both the citizens and the police. A citizen can lodge a complaint and provide information by keeping his or her identity secret through the app.

Centre Introduces 'Y-Break-Yoga at Office Chair'

  • The central government has issued instructions to its employees, urging them to include a short activity called 'Y-Break - Yoga at Office Chair' in their routine.
  • This practice is designed to promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and improved focus.
  • The Ministry of AYUSH introduced the concept of Y-Break in the workplace with the objective of reducing stress levels, refreshing the mind, and enhancing concentration among employees.

Indian Navy Outreach Programme “Julley Ladakh”

  • The Indian Navy has initiated an outreach program called "Julley Ladakh" (Hello Ladakh) to raise awareness about the Navy and foster connections with the youth and civil society in the pristine state of Ladakh.
  • As part of this endeavour, a 5000km Motorcycle Expedition was ceremonially launched on June 15, 2023, by Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, the Vice Chief of Navy Staff, at the National War Memorial.
  • The Navy has previously undertaken a similar successful initiative in the Northeast region. Additionally, the Indian Navy has conducted the Sam No Varunah car expedition to engage with citizens across all the coastal states.

SEACEN-FSI 25th Conference 

  • The SEACEN-FSI 25th Conference of Asia-Pacific Supervision Directors was held in Mumbai, India.
  • The Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Southeast Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre jointly organized this conference, which brought together notable individuals from the banking and financial industries.
  • The conference's main goal was to improve communication and collaboration among supervision directors in the Asia-Pacific region.

IOB allows to use any name as account number

  • Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has launched a unique program that allows its customers to personalize their savings account number with the bank.
  • This pioneering initiative in the banking industry enables customers to select any name, including their own, as their account number, which can be used for all banking transactions.
  • The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank introduced the scheme, known as 'My Account My Name,' virtually from IOB's Central Office in Chennai.
  • This customer-centric program will be accessible at all 49 regional offices of IOB across India.
