PM Modi Launches Urea Gold for Farmers
- During his visit to Rajasthan, PM Modi introduced a novel form of Urea named "Urea Gold."
- This innovative fertilizer is coated with Sulphur and holds the potential to enhance soil quality while also reducing expenses for farmers.
- Urea Gold, a newly developed type of Urea, comes with a Sulphur coating, effectively addressing Sulphur deficiencies in the soil.
- This "innovative fertilizer" is known for its economic and efficient qualities, surpassing neem-coated urea.
- By promoting improved nitrogen use efficiency, reduced consumption, and enhanced crop quality, Urea Gold is set to make a significant impact in agriculture.
‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ Campaign
- On the 30th of July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the commencement of the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" campaign in the lead-up to Independence Day, as a tribute to the brave martyrs of the nation.
- As part of this campaign, an "Amrit Kalash Yatra" will be organized. This yatra will make its way to Delhi, transporting soil collected from 7,500 Kalash representing villages and various corners of the country. Additionally, plants from different regions will also accompany the yatra.
- An "Amrit Vatika" will be established near the National War Memorial in Delhi, utilizing the soil and plants from these 7,500 Kalash.
Centre Launches ULLAS Mobile Application
- During the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2023, which was honoured by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram was inaugurated at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
- This initiative, spearheaded by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holds the vision of transforming education and literacy in India through the establishment of a comprehensive learning ecosystem.
- The program aims to bridge gaps in basic literacy and essential life skills, coinciding with the third anniversary of NEP 2020.
G. Kannabiran Takes Charges as New NAAC Director
- The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has recently appointed Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran as its new director.
- Prof. Kannabiran brings to this role extensive experience of over 30 years in the education sector, having served as a senior professor of Information Systems at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli.
- Over the course of his career, he has held several leadership positions, including the Dean of Research and Consultancy, and Director-in-Charge at NIT Trichy and NIT Puducherry.
Nisha Biswal to serve as Deputy CEO of US Finance agency
- The Senate has confirmed Indian-American policy expert Nisha Biswal to serve as the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at a US finance agency.
- She will be serving as the Deputy CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation.
Ratan Tata to be Felicitated by Maharashtra’s First Udyog Ratna Award
- Ratan Tata, the Chairman emeritus of the Tata group, will be bestowed with the prestigious Maharashtra Udyog Ratna Award, as decided by the Maharashtra government.
- Following the tradition of the Maharashtra Bhushan award, which is the highest state honour presented to distinguished individuals, the Maharashtra government has taken the decision to introduce the prestigious Udyog Ratna Award starting this year.
