World Osteoporosis Day 2023
- World Osteoporosis Day annually celebrated on October 20th, is a global initiative focused on increasing awareness about osteoporosis – a significant bone disorder that affects millions worldwide.
- This observance is closely linked to the establishment of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) in 1998.
- The importance of World Osteoporosis Day lies in its commitment to raising awareness about the prevention of osteoporosis.
- The theme of the day 2023 is “Step Up for Bone Health – Build Better Bones”.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates Tallest 418-feet High National Flag at Attari
- The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated country's tallest national flag, standing at an impressive height of 418 feet at Attari in Amritsar district of Punjab.
- Minister Gadkari also disclosed the installation of a surveillance system at the top of the flag, designed to assist BSF troops in monitoring border activities.
PM Modi Inaugurates Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor
- The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor during a ceremony held at the Sahibabad RapidX Station.
- He also inaugurated the RapidX train service that links Sahibabad to the Duhai Depot, marking the commencement of the Regional Rapid Transit System in India.
- Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri made the announcement that the RRTS trains will be named 'Namo Bharat'.
ICAI Receives UN Award
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been honoured with a UN Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to sustainability reporting.
- Among the 70 initiatives submitted from across the globe, ICAI's sustainability endeavours achieved the highest score.
- The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) presented ICAI with the ISAR Honours 2023 for their outstanding contributions.
Special Tiger Protection Force For 3 Tiger Reserves
- Arunachal Pradesh cabinet endorsed the establishment of a Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) in accordance with the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines for the state's three tiger reserves: Namdapha, Pakke, and Kamlang.
Tata Motors to Acquire 27% Stake In ‘Freight Tiger’
- Tata Motors has pledged an investment of ₹150 crore in 'Freight Tiger' to acquire a 27% stake, with the goal of enhancing efficiency in India's truck and freight ecosystem.
- The agreement allows Tata Motors to potentially invest an additional ₹100 crore over the next two years at the prevailing market rate.
