India’s First 3D-Printed Post Office

  • Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated India's first 3D-printed post office situated in Cambridge Layout, Bengaluru.
  • The post office was constructed by Larsen & Toubro Limited in collaboration with IIT Madras, under the supervision of Professor Manu Santhanam from the Department of Civil Engineering's Building Technology and Construction Management Division.

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has Appointed Parminder Chopra as CMD

  • Parminder Chopra has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Finance Corporation (PFC), marking her as the first woman to lead India's largest Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC).
  • She previously held the position of CMD in an interim capacity from June 1 and had served as the Director of Finance since July 1, 2020.
  • She played a pivotal role in the successful execution of a significant Rs 1.12 lakh crore Liquidity Infusion Scheme (LIS) aimed at supporting the power distribution sector. This scheme was launched as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Central Water Commission Launches ‘Floodwatch’

  • Shri Kushvinder Vohra, the Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC), has introduced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving flood readiness and reaction. The newly introduced "FloodWatch" mobile application signifies a significant advancement.
  • This innovative application utilizes the capabilities of mobile devices to promptly distribute up-to-date information and forecasts regarding floods to the general population, with a forecast window extending up to 7 days.
  • The application provides information through both written and audio broadcasts and is accessible in English and Hindi, thereby expanding its reach to a broader user base.

Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jodaraste Scheme

  • The Maharashtra state government has embarked on a noteworthy initiative to boost connectivity and uplift the livelihoods of tribal populations within the region.
  • Through the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jodaraste Scheme, a concerted effort is being made to establish connections between all tribal villages across 17 districts in Maharashtra and primary road networks.
  • This endeavor is poised to effectively tackle the obstacles encountered by these communities in reaching vital services.
  • The project, with an estimated budget of Rs 5,000 crore, will encompass the development of around 6,838 kilometers of roadways.

South Indian Bank Appoints P R Seshadri as MD & CEO

  • PR Seshadri has received the endorsement of the Reserve Bank of India for his designation as the Managing Director & CEO of the South Indian Bank.
  • His appointment is sanctioned for a duration of three years, commencing from October 1, 2023.

AICTE Join Hands with Jio Institute for a Faculty Development Program

  • All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) revealed its collaboration with Jio Institute to launch a faculty development program focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and data science.

Axis Bank’s Kisan Credit Cards

  • Axis Bank has joined hands with the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), an arm of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), to introduce two innovative lending solutions.
  • These offerings leverage the capabilities of the Public Tech Platform for Frictionless Credit (PTPFC), a pioneering venture initiated by RBIH.
