Income Tax Day 2023
- Every year, on July 24, the Income Tax department commemorates Income Tax Day or 'Aaykar Diwas' in India.
- This day marks the introduction of income tax in the country, precisely on July 24, 1860, by Sir James Wilson.
- The purpose behind its inception was to offset the losses incurred during the first war of independence.
- This year, we celebrate the 163rd anniversary of Income Tax Day.
Justice Alok Aradhe Sworn in as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court
- Justice Alok Aradhe was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. The oath was administered by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
- Justice Alok Aradhe took over the position from Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, who was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.
UP Government’s Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana
- The Agriculture Department of Uttar Pradesh is actively preparing to execute the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana, aimed at enhancing the well-being of farmers throughout the state.
- Under this scheme, a solar fence with a low 12-volt current will be installed to dissuade animals from entering farmlands without causing them any harm.
- When these animals come into contact with the fence, a gentle shock will be activated, accompanied by a siren to deter them effectively.
- The targeted animals include nilgai, monkeys, pigs, and wild boars, preventing them from causing damage to crops in the fields.
Ashish Desai Sworn in as New Chief Justice of Kerala High Court
- Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai was sworn in as the 38th Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court in a formal ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
- The oath of office was administered by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, marking the beginning of Justice Desai's tenure as the Chief Justice.
India Hands Over INS Kirpan to Vietnam
- Indian Naval Ship Kirpan, a corvette with 32 years of service in the Indian Navy, was decommissioned and formally handed over to the Vietnam People's Navy (VPN) in a ceremony at Cam Ranh, Vietnam.
- This momentous occasion signifies the first instance of India transferring a fully operational corvette to another country.
