PM To Launch ‘Sankalp Saptaah’

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a unique week-long programme for Aspirational Blocks in the country called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 30th September2023.
  • ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ is linked to the effective implementation of Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP).
  • ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ will be observed in all of the 500 Aspirational Blocks.
  • Each day in ‘Sankalp Saptaah’, starting from 3rd October till 9th October, 2023, is dedicated to a specific development theme.
  • The themes for the first six days include ‘Sampoorna Swasthya’, ‘Suposhit Pariwaar’, ‘Swachhta’, ‘Krishi’, ‘Shiksha’, and ‘Samridhi Diwas’. 
  • The last day of the week will be the celebration of the work conducted during the entire week, as ‘Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh’.

India’s First Cartography Museum

  • On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the George Everest Cartography Museum in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, was officially opened by Satpal Maharaj, the Minister of Tourism and Culture for Uttarakhand.
  • This is India’s first cartography Museum.
  • The museum is located in Park Estate area of Mussoorie formerly the home of the renowned surveyor Sir George Everest, after whom Mount Everest was named.

Taiwan Unveils ‘Haikun’

  • Taiwan, an autonomous island in East Asia, has inaugurated its domestically-produced submarine, christened the "Haikun."
  • This was to enhance its defence against the ongoing potential risk of a Chinese incursion.
  • President Tsai Ing-wen officiated the launch ceremony in the port city of Kaohsiung, signifying advancement in Taiwan's military capabilities.

International Translation Day 2023

  • On September 30th each year, International Translation Day is commemorated worldwide.
  • It recognizes the priceless contributions of translators and language experts.
  • In 1991, the International Federation of Translators (FIT) officially instituted International Translation Day.

  • FIT, an international body established in 1953.
  • It represents professionals in the fields of translation, interpretation, and terminology worldwide.
  • The primary objectives behind the establishment of this day were to promote solidarity among the global translation community and to heighten awareness about the vital role of the translation profession.

Google and HP join hands to make chromebooks

  • Google and HP have partnered to produce budget-friendly Chromebook laptops in India under the Make in India initiative.
  • Production is set to commence on October 2 at HP's manufacturing facility in Chennai.

  • According to the report by CRISIL (Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited), MI&A (Market Intelligence and Advisory), India's power demand in September 2023 has reached its highest level in five years.

  • CRISIL is an Indian consultancy company that provides ratings, analyses, risk assessments, and policy recommendations.
  • It operates as a subsidiary of S&P Global, an American multinational corporation.
  • Established in 1988, CRISIL holds the distinction of being India's inaugural credit rating agency, and it was founded through the infusion of share capital by ICICI and UTI, with participation from SBI, LIC, and United India Insurance Company.
