Suman Kumari Becomes BSF’s First Female Sniper

  • Sub-Inspector Suman Kumari becomes the first woman sniper of the Border Security Force (BSF).
  • She completed an eight-week sniper training at Centre School of Weapons and Tactics in Indore and attained instructor grade.

Raksha Mantri Launched ADITI Scheme

  • Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh launched Acing Development of Innovative Technologies (ADITI) scheme during DefConnect 2024 in New Delhi.
  • The ADITI scheme worth Rs 750 crore for the period 2023-24 to 2025-26 falls under the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) framework of Department of Defence Production (DDP).
  • Under the scheme, start-ups are eligible to receive grant-in-aid of up to Rs 25 crore for their research, development, and innovation endeavors in defence technology.
  • It aims to develop about 30 deep-tech critical and strategic technologies and envisages to create a ‘Technology Watch Tool’ to bridge the gap between the expectations and requirements of the modern Armed Forces and the capabilities of the defence innovation ecosystem.

France Become First Country to Enshrine Abortion Rights in its Constitution

  • France has become the first country in the world to enshrine abortion rights in its constitution. The amendment states that there is a guaranteed freedom to abortion in France.
  • France has a long history of supporting abortion rights. The voluntary ending of pregnancy became legal in France in 1975 with a law named after Simone Veil, the health minister who supported it.
  • The law allowed abortion up to the tenth week of pregnancy. Later, it was extended to the twelfth week in 2001 and then to the fourteenth week in 2022. Since the 1980s, the procedure has been covered by France's national healthcare system.

CM Yogi Launched MYUVA Scheme

  • CM Yogi Adityanath launched Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan (MYUVA) scheme in U.P.
  • The scheme is designed to empower educated and skilled youth across the state, facilitating self-employment opportunities and fostering the establishment of new MSMEs.
  • The scheme offers interest-free loans to help young people kickstart their business ventures with projects valued up to Rs 5 lakh.

Union Minister Inaugurated Three CIPET Centers Across India

  • Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers and Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya virtually inaugurated three centers of Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET).
  • These centers are established in Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
  • He stated that the institutes have transformed as per the needs of the 21st century and helped the industry not only by providing skilled manpower but also by research and production.
