National Cancer Awareness Day 2023 

  • National Cancer Awareness Day is an annual event in India observed on 7 November.  
  • Its purpose is to increase public awareness about the significance of early cancer detection and prevention methods.  
  • This initiative began in 2014 to highlight the seriousness of the cancer epidemic and emphasizes the pressing need to tackle it. 

Indian Navy’s Latest Warship ‘Surat’ 

  • In a recent event, Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel revealed the crest of the Indian Navy's newest warship, 'Surat.' 
  • The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, along with Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi and Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi, among other senior officers, graced the occasion with their presence. 

India and Bhutan Enhance Bilateral Ties 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, during their meeting, agreed on various new initiatives to enhance cooperation in trade, technology, and cross-border connectivity.  
  • These initiatives include conducting a survey for the first railway link between the two countries, which will be supported by India. 

India’s Largest Cold Oil Production Facility in Gujarat 

  • Bharat Botanics has unveiled its cutting-edge wood-pressed Cold Oil processing facility in Gondal, Rajkot Gujarat. 
  • Covering an area of 16,000 square feet, this automated facility is unique in its kind, emphasizing 100% hygiene and transparency.  
  • This marks a significant stride towards promoting healthier living, sustainability, and ensuring the provision of wholesome edible oils for all its customers. 

India Clinched the Top Titles at the FIDE Grand Swiss Chess Event 

  • India marked a historic achievement when both Vidit Gujrathi and R. Vaishali emerged as winners at the Grand Swiss tournament held in the Isle of Man.  
  • Their victories secured highly sought-after spots in the upcoming Candidates tournament scheduled to be held in Toronto early next year. 

APEDA Partners with Lulu Hypermarket 

  • The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the global retail giant, Lulu Hypermarket LLC. 
  • APEDA a division of the Ministry of Commerce under the Government of India. 
  • The agreement, aimed at enhancing Brand India's global presence, was inked by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Lulu Group, Yusuf Ali MA. 
  • This MoU enables APEDA to promote Indian agricultural products, including millets, across the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC). 

Lulu Hypermarket 

  • Lulu Group International (LLC), the parent company of Lulu Hypermarket, has a significant presence across the GCC, Egypt, India, and the Far East, boasting 247 LuLu stores and 24 shopping malls.  
  • The LuLu Group is widely recognized as the fastest-growing retail chain in the Middle East and Asia. 

Heeralal Samariya as the New Chief Information Commissioner 

  • Senior bureaucrat and former information commissioner Heeralal Samariya was sworn in as the chief of the Central Information Commission (CIC) by President Droupadi Murmu. 
  • He formally assumed his new role on 6th November 2023.  

IIT Kanpur Launches ‘ATMAN’ To Monitor Air Quality 

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has set up a Center of Excellence (CoE) called ATMAN (Advanced Technologies for Monitoring Air-quality iNdicators).  
  • This CoE represents a major stride in the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India. 
  • It concentrates on developing domestic manufacturing of low-cost sensors and bolstering Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities.  
  • The aim is to improve air quality in both urban and rural areas of India. 

Parshottam Rupala inaugurated Pavilion of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying 

  • Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, inaugurated the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying’s pavilion at the World Food India event 2023.  
  • The department played a significant role as a partner in the event, underscoring its commitment to the progress of the livestock and dairy sector.  
  • Minister Parshottam Rupala was joined by Minister for State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Shri Dr. L. Murugan, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the Ministry to promote growth and innovation in this vital field. 

Indian Women’s Hockey Team Won Gold at Asian Champions Trophy 2023 

  • The Indian women's hockey team clinched the gold medal in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023.  
  • This marks their second victory in the history of the competition.  
  • The final match occurred on November 5th, 2023, at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Mundra Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.  
  • India defeated Japan 4-0 in the final match.
