Why in the News?
The combined Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) declined by 1.8% (provisional) in August 2024 as compared to the Index in August 2023. Six of the eight infrastructure segments witnessed a year-on-year contraction in production while steel and fertilizers recorded mild growth.
