Why in News?  

Seventeen top MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, along with two parliamentary committees, have been nominated for the prestigious Sansad Ratna Awards 2025.  

About the Sansad Ratna Award  

• Inspired by the teachings of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the Sansad Ratna Awards were established in 2010 to honour and recognise the best-performing MPs based on their work in Parliament.  
• The awardees are selected by a jury committee made up of distinguished Parliamentarians and members of civil society, who evaluate MPs on their overall performance, including the number of questions raised, private members’ Bills introduced, debates started, attendance, and fund utilisation.  
• The Sansad Ratna Awards are presented by the Prime Point Foundation and are not conferred by the Government of India.  
• Jury Committee:  Chaired by Hansraj Ahir, Chairman of the National Commission for Backwards Classes (NCBC).
