About Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya

  • Born: 25th September 1916 in the holy area of Brij, located in the village of Nagla Chandrabhan within Mathura District.
  • Died: 11th February 1968.
  • He is widely respected for his philosophy of Integral Humanism, which serves as the official ideology of the Bhartiya Janata Party.
  • He used Don’t Distort the News mantra for journalism.
  • He launched the weekly Panchjanya and the daily Swadesh.
  • Political Life
    • He became a member of the RSS in 1937 and was influenced by Shri Nana ji Deshmukh and Shri Bhau Jugade.
    • On 21st September 1951, he organized a political convention in Uttar Pradesh and established the state's chapter of the newly formed Bhartiya Jana Sangh.
    • He was the Bhartiya Jana Sangh leader from 1953 to 1968.
    • He was the founder of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh (the predecessor of today’s Bhartiya Janata Party).
  • Books: Samrat Chandragupt, Jagatguru Shankaracharya, Political Diary, Integral humanism, Ekatmamanav – vad and an analysis of the Five-Year plans in India.
