Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd. Awarded Public Relations Society of India National Award 2023

  • The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) national award for 2023 has been secured by Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML).
  • During the International Public Relations Festival in New Delhi, the award was presented to HAML CPRO M. Krishnanand by Swami Chidanand Saraswati Swamiji of Rishikesh.

Paul Lynch Won Booker Prize 2023 for His Novel, ‘Prophet Song'

  • An Irish author Paul Lynch won the 2023 Booker Prize for his fifth novel, 'Prophet Song.'
  • He becomes the fifth Irish author to achieve this prestigious honor.
  • The last Irish writer to win this award in 2018 was Anna Burns.
  • The Booker Prize is bestowed upon the best work of fiction written in English and published in the UK and Ireland.

National Cadet Corps Celebrates 75th Anniversary Day

  • On 27 November 2023, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces will mark its 75th anniversary.
  • The headquarter of NCC is in New Delhi, India. NCC extends its voluntary membership to school and college students.
  • Operating as a Tri-Services Organization, it covers the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • Cadets engaging in the NCC undergo essential military training, which includes activities such as small arms handling and drill exercises.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Launches Khelo India Para Games 2023 Logo

  • The inaugural logo and mascot for the Khelo India Para Games 2023 were officially unveiled in New Delhi by Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • 'Ujjwala', a sparrow, was unveiled as the official mascot of Khelo India - Para Games 2023.
  • This small sparrow, symbolizing the pride and uniqueness of Delhi, serves as an emblem of determination and empathy.
  • Ujjwala, as the mascot, embodies the idea that strength manifests in various ways, and the human spirit is resilient and unyielding.

Ayushman Bharat-Health & Wellness Centres Renames ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’

  • The government of India rename the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir.'
  • The ministry has instructed states to upload pictures of the rebranded primary health facilities on the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) portal.
  • The directive emphasizes retaining the National Health Mission (NHM) logo in the rebranded centers.
  • The rebranded AB-HWCs will feature a new tagline, 'Arogyam Parmam Dhanam.'

Hardeep Puri Inaugurates Second Floating CNG Station In Varanasi

  • Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban Affairs inaugurated the floating Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mobile Refueling Unit (MRU) station at Ravidas Ghat, Varanasi.
  • This is the country's second station dedicated to filling CNG in boats, following the Namo Ghat CNG station.
  • Both the stations have been developed by GAIL (India) Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Maharatna PSU

  • The Maharatna dispensation was announced by the Union government for mega Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in 2010.
  • “Maharatna” status is granted to a company which has recorded more than Rs. 5,000 crores of net profit for three consecutive years, an average annual turnover of Rs. 25,000 crore for three years or should have an average annual net worth of Rs. 15,000 crore for three years. It should also have global operations or footprints.
  • Recently, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has been accorded the status of a ‘Maharatna’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
  • REC is a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), incorporated in 1969, focusing on Power Sector Financing and Development across India.
  • It comes under the purview of the Ministry of Power.
