World Environment Day 2024

  • World Environment Day is annually observed on 6th May.
  • The day aims to promote ecological changes and sustainable practices.
  • The theme for the day 2024 is Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.

School Education Department Signed MoU with National Book Trust for Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya

  • The Department of School Education signed a MoU with the National Book Trust to create an institutional framework for the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya.
  • Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya is a digital library platform that will feature over 1,000 non-academic titles from more than 40 publishers in 22 languages, besides English.
  • The platform will cater to four age groups (3-8, 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18 years) as per NEP 2020 guideline.

Nar Singh and Rohini Lokhande Won Dilip Bose Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Nar Singh and Rohini Lokhande has been awarded with Dilip Bose award for lifetime achievement by the All India Tennis Association (AITA).
  • Rohini Lokhande was the first woman tennis coach to qualify from the National Institute of Sports.

Siddhalinga Pattanashetti Chosen for Gudleppa Hallikeri Award

  • Poet and playwright Siddhalinga Pattanashetti has been chosen for the prestigious Gudleppa Hallikeri Award 2024 by the Gudleppa Hallikeri Memorial Foundation, Hosaritti (Haveri District).
  • He will be the 19th recipient of the award which will comprise a purse of ₹25,000 and a memento.

Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Defence Sign Mou to Set Up Tele MANAS Cell for Armed Forces

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to set up a special cell of Tele MANAS, the National Telemental Health Helpline of MoHFW at the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune.
  • Tele MANAS is the digital extension of the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), offering comprehensive, integrated, and inclusive 24/7 tele-mental health services.
