- Location: It is the northern state in India.
- Capital: Chandigarh (shared with Punjab).
- Borders: Punjab to the northwest, Himachal Pradesh to the north, Uttarakhand to the northeast, Uttar Pradesh to the east and Rajasthan to the south and southwest.
- It also surrounds the national capital Delhi on three sides forming part of the National Capital Region (NCR).
- The region is believed to be the site of several battles in the Mahabharata, particularly the famous Battle of Kurukshetra.
- It was carved out of the state of Punjab on 1st November 1966, based on linguistic lines.
