Civil Defence Drills
- The Ministry of Home Affairs launched a nationwide civil defence drill from May 7-9, 2025, involving over 4 lakh volunteers across 244 districts.
- The drill includes air-raid sirens, blackout drills, and evacuation planning to assess national readiness amid rising India-Pakistan tensions.
Igla-S
- The Indian Army has received Russian Igla-S missiles to counter drones, helicopters, and jets.
- The Igla-S is a shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile with infrared homing to target fast-moving objects and has a range of up to 6 km.
- It is an improved version of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS).
Mangar Bani
- Archaeologists have discovered prehistoric tools from the Lower Paleolithic age in Mangar Bani, a sacred forest in the Aravalli range.
- It is the only primary forest in Delhi NCR, undisturbed by human activity.
- The site shows continuous occupation from 100,000 BP to 1000 AD and features rock shelters and paintings dating back 20,000–40,000 years.
Operation Hawk
- The CBI, in collaboration with international agencies, successfully dismantled cybercrime networks involved in online child sexual exploitation through Operation Hawk 2025.
- The operation targeted individuals using social media platforms to exploit minors, with significant international cooperation, including inputs from the US.
- This effort follows previous operations like Carbon (2021) and Megh Chakra (2022), reinforcing India's commitment to combatting online child abuse.
